Hit by a Car, Yet Still Full of Love
You’d never guess it by his soft eyes and shy smile, but Axle has already survived the unthinkable.
He was just a young dog, barely a year old, when a kind woman found him lying still outside her house. He couldn’t get up, and all signs pointed to him being hit by a car.
When we brought him in, X-rays revealed that his left hip was badly injured, and his right back leg had been partially degloved. He had likely dragged himself off the road with what little strength he had left.
He underwent surgery to remove the femur head on the damaged hip, and day by day, he healed. Today, Axle is walking, wagging, and even playing again. He still has a slight limp and sometimes struggles to put weight on that back leg.
Axle is one of the gentlest boys we’ve ever known. He’s nervous at first, especially around new people, but when he opens up, he melts into your arms like he’s known you forever. He loves other dogs and is especially playful with them – just needs a bit of time to warm up to humans.
He needs a home, maybe with a doggy sibling or two, and humans who will show him that some good things do last forever.
You can visit Axle at Wet Nose, or get in touch by calling 082 677 8084. Even if you can’t adopt, please share his story, as your share might be the reason he finally finds his forever family.
