She had a home for 10 years. Losing it broke everyone’s heart...

For 10 years, Ounooi only knew one life. The same loving owner every single day, and the sound of a familiar voice calling her name. Sadly, everything has now changed.

Ounooi’s owner had to make one of the hardest decisions imaginable. She had to move into an old-age home where dogs aren’t allowed, and with tears in her eyes, she brought Ounooi to us. What makes this even more heartbreaking is how much this little dog is loved.

Her owner phones us constantly to ask how she’s doing. You can hear the heartbreak in her voice. She didn’t give Ounooi up because she wanted to – she did it because she had no other choice.

Ounooi is just as devastated. Kennel life has been incredibly difficult for her, so we started letting her sleep on a bed in our clinic instead. Wrapped up in blankets, cuddling her teddy bear, just trying to find some comfort in a world that suddenly feels unfamiliar.

She still wants to belong to someone. She still has so much affection left to give. You can see in her eyes that she was somebody’s whole world for a very long time.
