She used to run from hands, now she gently asks for them.

Jane is a 3-year-old Jack Russell X who was seen running between cars at the TotalEnergies by Jan Ellis. Running from one person to the next, hoping for scraps. We were called out to help before anything terrible happened to her. When we got there, we could instantly see it in her body – she was tired, thin, and covered in ticks and fleas. So we got her back to our clinic and started to treat her right away.

In the beginning, Jane didn’t want to be touched at all. She would pull away and look at us nervously, unsure of what we were going to do. She wasn’t aggressive, just scared. The kind of scared that makes a dog choose distance over everything else.

So we sat with her day after day, letting her come closer when she felt ready. Then she slowly started to lean in, slowly wanting more and more love. The same dog who once ran from people now rolls onto her back for belly rubs.

Jane is still a little nervous with sudden movements, but behind that softness is a girl who is full of love, just waiting for someone patient enough to see it.
