Some dogs don’t understand why they’re suddenly alone. Tessa was one of them.
She lived on a property with two other dogs. One day, the people there packed up their belongings, loaded the other two dogs and drove away, leaving Tessa alone. Confused and waiting, she stayed behind. Thankfully, kind neighbours noticed her and made sure she had food, then reached out for help.
When we arrived to fetch Tessa, our hearts dropped. She was terrified, unsure of what was happening, and COVERED in ticks and fleas. It was clear she had been left to fend for herself. We treated her immediately, and from that moment on, things slowly started to change for this girl.
Tessa has come such a long way. She’s still a little shy at first – and honestly, who could blame her. Although once she realises you’re kind and not going anywhere, her tail starts wagging, and it doesn’t stop.
She’s good with other dogs and would do best in a home that understands she’s been through a lot. Tessa just needs some gentle reassurance and someone who will give her the time to bloom at her own pace.
