If you remember Blackie – our big, gentle Great Dane X who shivered in his kennel after losing the only home he ever knew – then get ready for the update your heart needed today.
Blackie came to Wet Nose as a tiny, mange-covered puppy back in 2016. He beat the odds, became a TV star in a skincare advert, and then found a loving home. Years later, life changed for his owner, and heartbreakingly, Blackie returned to the kennels with all his old blankets and toys, but he still curled up in the corner, trembling and confused.
Although his story was shared, and something incredible happened. Blackie found a new family, loving family.
His adopters told us that the first week was tough. He was nervous and quiet. Slowly, with love and snacks, he started to open up again. Now he snuggles on the couch at night, lets their little boy climb all over him, goes for runs with his new mom, and joins every family walk. He doesn’t bark, nip, or chase – he’s simply the gentle giant we always knew he was.
Blackie got his second chance, and so many of our dogs are still waiting for theirs.
If you can open your home to a dog who just needs love, please reach out to us on 082 677 8084. You can also look at our available dogs on the adopt page.
If you can’t adopt, sharing their stories truly changes lives. Blackie is living proof of that.
