URGENT WARNING FOR PET OWNERS IN BRONKHORSTSPRUIT & CULLINAN!
We’ve been hearing about a sudden rise in dog poisoning cases in our surrounding areas, and it’s becoming a very real concern for pet owners. We don’t want to cause panic, but we do want everyone to be alert and protect their pets as best as they can.
Right now, the safest thing you can do is keep your dogs indoors, especially at night. A lot of these poisonings happen when no one is watching. If your dog does spend time outside, check your yard regularly, keep food bowls inside, and be aware of anything unusual near your fence line.
If a dog has been poisoned, symptoms can show up very quickly. Please keep an eye out for sudden vomiting, diarrhoea, excessive drooling, shaking or twitching, difficulty breathing, foaming at the mouth, weakness, collapsing, pale gums, or any behaviour that just feels “off.” Sometimes the signs are subtle at first, but they worsen fast.
If you suspect poisoning – DON’T WAIT. Get your dog to the vet immediately. Call ahead if you can, so they can prepare for your arrival. Bring along anything your dog may have eaten, any vomit, or anything suspicious you found in your yard.
