She walked into to a house in Bronkhorstspruit, weak, broken, but determined. She didn’t want to leave—maybe because she knew she couldn’t keep going on her own. Maybe because, for the first time in a long time, she saw a glimpse of kindness.
When we arrived to fetch her, we saw the harsh reality of Rose’s life etched into her frail body. Her ribs jutted out from her paper-thin skin, her fur was patchy and riddled with fleas and ticks. And her eyes… they carried the weight of a soul that had suffered more than any living being should.
After a thorough examination at Wet Nose, we uncovered the full horror of what she had endured:
- Cancer in her womb — She underwent an operation to remove it, but she still needs chemotherapy to ensure it never comes back.
- A ruptured ovarian tumour — It ruptured into her abdomen, causing unimaginable pain.
- Severe malnutrition & anaemia — Despite eating well, her body is struggling to regain strength.
Rose is 9 years old, a senior who should have been loved, protected, and cherished. Instead, she was discarded like she never mattered. But we refuse to let her story end in suffering. Rose is safe now. She is receiving the medical care, food, and love she so desperately needs. But she cannot fight this battle alone.
